Drum Accessories
The basic drum kit is composed of about five drums and several basic drum accessories as drum stands and pedals. These drums are the bass drum, the snare drum, and three tom-toms. Most sets include a set of cymbals that are purchased in a separate package. Rockers have their own set up with other percussions included to make for a more diverse sound.
These drums are made of a shell usually made of wood that has a drum head or a drum skin which is a membrane that is stretched over the shell. When this member is struck by an object, usually a drumstick, it produces a sound known as a drum beat. Over the years, and due to our highly commercialized society, various drum accessories have been invented by musicians to enhance the sound of the drum beats and to create more creative tunes.
The modern rock band would have several electronic drum accessories that make for more interesting and engaging sounds. Most popular of these electronic drum accessories are electronic sound modules, laptop computers used to simulate drum samples or loop sequences, metronomes and tempo meters, and recording devices among others.
There are also those accessories that are functional in nature. Drum rugs, drum pads, silencers, and drum rings are among the most commonly used drum accessories. Various makes of the drum stick are also available nowadays. Hi hat stands, cymbal stands, and bass drum pedals are also available to help set up the drum kit configuration. These entire drum accessories can be purchased in different price ranges from internet stores and from local music stores.
