Drum Sets

When looking for your first ever drum kit, acoustic drum sets are the most recommended. They provide the basic configuration of setting up. Never mind if your other friends have the latest, electronic drums in the neighborhood, those kinds of drum kits never last and they always need a big amplifier in order to play drums.

On the other hand, acoustic drums are the best way to learn the dynamics on drums. You can use a variety of sticks and brushes and still sound better compared to the electric version.

Drum sets vary from one drummer to the next. If you are into jazz, then maybe getting a simple snare, tom-tom, bass drum and a floor tom is all you need. If you look at the set ups of jazz drummers like Max Roach, Philly Jo Jones and Joe Morello, they all use a simple set up.

If you are into Rock music, drum set-ups in that genre are usually composed of more toms, cymbals and double bass drum. Check out the Mike Portnoy or Terry Bozzio, they both use rock setups that are more than the usual for basic drummers.

Although there have been many improvements in the music scene, acoustic drum sets are still the main driving force behind Rap and R-n-B music.

Whatever style you are into, acoustic drum sets provide the best way of learning. Contrary to what advertisers say about electric kits and how they are the future of drumming, an acoustic drum set is still the standard in playing drums.
