But in the world of music, drum rollers are mallets used for playing the bass drum. You usually see these mallets used in concerts or by marching bands.Let’s discuss first the bass drum rollers mallets. We all know that the bass drum is the largest drum in a drum kit and you need large tools to strike it. The most popular choice for bass drum roller is Vic Firth’s BD7 Roller Mallet. Manufactured by the world renowned Vic Firth, this two-fisted roll mallet has 2 ¼ inch head and 16 inches long and it is as hard as Vic Firth’s BD1 mallets. Usually sold in pairs, Vic Firth BD7 cost about $40 to $45.
Another bass drum roller from Vic Firth is the TG04 Tom Gauger Rollers Bass Drum Mallets. Its head measures 2 ½ inch and 15 ¾ long and its handle is made of hickory wood for easy grip. The weight of this roller mallet provides the users their desired sound in full. The selling price of this roller mallet cost about $70.
A different drum roller manufactured by Promark is the Promark Performer Series Rollers Bass Drum Mallet. With American-style wool core covering and its outer layer made of synthetic wool, it can absolutely compete with Vic Firth’s drum rollers. Promark’s Rollers Bass Drum Mallet produces smooth rolls and you will never hear any contact sound. This mallet is perfect for soft solo notes.
